Be sure the client is there to receive the parcel

Get last-minute delivery address changes, get comments from the receiver.

As a transporter, I got last week an order to deliver a parcel by truck to someone’s home address. I tried to deliver it on Wednesday, around noon, but nobody was there - the guy was probably at work. So I left a note that I would come back at the same time the next day, with a phone number and an order reference number.

The guy called our office that evening, but we were already closed. He tried again the next day, during office hours, to explain that he is not at home during the day. Being a foreigner, he also had difficulties giving an alternative address and time to the secretary. Unfortunately, I was already on the way to his place and she was unable to notify me, so I had to deliver to the alternative address the next day. Third time lucky. Obviously, our company was only paid for one delivery, and the customer was not happy about the two-day delay.
